Innovative Slope Stabilization Work at NH-34, Narendra Nagar

A severe landslide occurred at Narendra Nagar Bypass location in the year 2016 which resulted in casualties of 4 people. The trajectory of the landslide threatens a part of Narendra Nagar town which can also block the highway leading to Uttarkashi (NH-34). Border Roads Organization decided to treat the landslide by adopting latest technologies in an efficient manner. Topographical Survey was carried out using latest Drone and Light Detection And Ranging (LiDAR) technology. Digital Terrain Model (DTM) of the area to be treated was created using millions of points collected during the survey. Survey points were established at the site to geo-reference the collected data and survey data collected through Total Station, Drone and LiDAR was merged in order to create a highly detailed 3D model of area of interest.

Geotechnical investigations were carried out for interpreting the subsurface strata for the design of landslide mitigation work. Two vertical boreholes of 16m and 20m were done on the slope. P&G Geohazard Solutions, known for its quality works, ensured to use optimum quality material for this project. While the Self Drilling Anchors were based on Swiss Technology, the Rhomboidal Wire Rope Panels were imported from Incofil Tech SRL, Italy. These wire rope panels carry ETA certification which demonstrates its quality, durability and strict testing parameters. Test Certificates for each and every component of installed system were also submitted
